As of right now, the rumored WrestleMania opponent for AJ Styles is none other than SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon, and according to Cageside Seats, the AJ vs. Shane feud will begin next week.

Following this past week’s SmackDown, Daniel Bryan announced that there will be a number one contender’s battle royal on next week’s show, where the winner will challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 33, and the former champ AJ Styles is being forced to compete in the match.

The Cageside Seats report suggests that AJ being forced to compete in the battle royal will mark the beginning of his feud with Shane McMahon.

Shane was originally scheduled to work with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33, but things changed when Goldberg agreed to do more than just one match. Also, the WWE chairman considers his son to be a big draw, so he doesn’t want to leave him off of their biggest show of the year.
