After spending two years down in NXT, Samoa Joe finally made his WWE main roster debut the night after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and he’s now one of the top heels on the Monday Night Raw brand.

Prior to his arrival in WWE’s developmental territory, Joe spent a lot of time on the independent wrestling circuit, where he became close with CM Punk, and during a recent interview with Eyes on the Game, he was asked a ton of Punk-related questions, one of which was “what was Punk’s reaction to you joining the main roster?” You can check out Joe’s response below.

“He said of course you did, now that I’m not there anymore.”

Joe was also asked if he thinks the two will ever face off in a WWE ring, and the former NXT Champion seemed optimistic about it.

“It’s funny, the thing about wrestling is that nothing is ever impossible, so you never know. You might see us united back in the ring someday. We’ll see.”

Even though he was completely outmatched in his UFC debut, Punk is still dead-set on being an MMA fighter for now. So a WWE return isn’t something that’ll happen in the near future.
