With WrestleMania in the air, we’ve been hearing a lot of speculation about what will be going down after WWE’s big show. Now that the brand split has returned, folks are eager to hear what the second-year draft would look like–and we’re starting to see a clearer image.
There’s been no shortage of speculation over which stars would be moving from Raw to SmackDown or vice-versa, but so far it’s been all rumors and speculation. Now we’re starting to hear things that are a bit more solid.
According to PWInsider (by way of WrestlingInc), Roman Reigns is in serious discussions to make the jump to the SmackDown Live roster.
A fresh draft is at least a month away, so we’ve got some time before we know if this will be the direction for the future. We’ve heard similar rumors about AJ Styles moving to Raw–in exchange for either Seth Rollins or the New Day–but it sounds like Roman will be the name to watch.
Of course, this casts the Wrestling Observer’s recent report about the planned WrestleMania 34 main event being Lesnar vs. Reigns in an interesting light. As Universal Champ–which we expect him to be–Lesnar would be ineligible for the draft, meaning that he would have to remain on Raw. Lesnar vs. Reigns would have to be an interbrand battle, if that were the case.
In any case, it’s an interesting glimpse at the next year of WWE. Do you think moving Reigns to SmackDown is the right call? Let us know in the comments, or on Facebook!
