The Viper and the Eater of Worlds have been on a long-delayed collision course, but it seems their battle will finally hit the ring on October 9 at No Mercy.

The match was a given, especially after their initial meeting at Backlash was delayed after Bray Wyatt delivered a brutal assault to Randy Orton backstage ahead of their in-ring meetup.

That was the story reason for the delay, but the truth is no less violent–Orton had not been cleared to compete following a concussion suffered in his match against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

The No Mercy match wasn’t announced on SmackDown, but instead by Daniel Bryan on Twitter earlier today.

Both Wyatt and Orton are coming off of big losses, making the victory an important one. The winner of this match is likely to find himself in the conversation to challenge the winner of No Mercy’s triple threat for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

I’d hate to see another loss for the Eater of Worlds, but it seems that things are aligning for Orton to chase the title, and I have to admit that I’m interested in seeing another main event run for the Viper.

Who do you want to see take the victory?
