President-elect Donald Trump has had a close relationship with WWE over the years, hosting WrestleManias IV and V at Trump Plaza and making frequent appearances on WWE television over the years. Trump is also close with the McMahons, and given Linda’s political aspirations, speculation was rampant that she would be joining Trump’s cabinet.
Today, the appointment became official–Linda McMahon is head of Trump’s Small Business Administration.
“Linda has a tremendous background,” said a statement from Trump, “and is widely recognized as one of the country’s top female executives advising businesses around the globe. She helped grow WWE from a modest 13-person operation to a publicly traded global enterprise with more than 800 employees in offices worldwide.”
Honored to be appointed by President-Elect @realDonaldTrump to serve as head of @SBAgov advocating for our small businesses & entrepreneurs!

McMahon previously ran for Connecticut senate seats in 2010 and 2012, in both cases earning the nomination of the Republican party but failing to defeat her Democratic opponent. Her defeats are often attributed–in part–to WWE’s place in various steroids investigations and some of the more salacious material to appear throughout the show’s history.
The McMahons made heavy contributions to Trump’s presidential campaign, and appeared at several of his rallies.

The question is not if, but when WWE will acknowledge the presidency on-screen. Their reticence to mention Trump’s role with the company has been understandable given how contentious this election was, but with Linda’s role in WWE’s rise to national fame playing such a part in her appointment, it seems odd if they continue their silence for much longer.
