We all have to do something with our off time, especially when your day job involves as much relentless self-promotion as pro wrestling.
In October last year, Erick Rowan underwent surgery that would put him out of action for four-to-six months. If rehab goes according to plan, that could put him back in the ring anytime from the Royal Rumble to WrestleMania. (Unless, of course, he gets the Emmalina treatment and comes back in two years as, basically, Val Venis.)
So what’s he been doing in that off time? The same thing any self-respecting member of a backwoods pro wrestling cult would do–making home horror movies.
Between the sheep mask and the olive green overalls, they’re all clearly part of his Wyatt Family character, and despite the reliance on stock standard horror tropes, they do produce some effective creeps.
Those are the only two currently available, and due to them being a month old and this being the first I’ve ever heard of them, it seems any plans to “go viral” (as the marketing executives say) have gone awry. One video has a respectable 37,000 views, though the other hasn’t even cracked 500.
For reference, I’ve made Youtube videos more popular than that.
But hey, maybe Rowan’s got the right idea. Maybe he should follow in Zack Ryder’s footsteps and become the new internet champion. That ended up working out great!
What do you think of Rowan’s turn as a would be George Romero? Let us know in the comments, or over on Facebook!
