For many wrestling stars, their sports entertainment career has brought fame and fortune. But for others, the story doesn’t go quite so happily.

Perry Saturn, former WWE, WCW, and ECW star, is among the latter group. He says he’s a week or two away from homelessness, and doesn’t know where his next meal is coming from. He’s started a GoFundMe page and is asking fans for help. As of this writing, he’s received over $18,000 toward a $100,000 goal.

A big part of Saturn’s problems stem from medical issues, as he suffers a “severe traumatic brain injury,” which has rendered him unable to work and made his wife a full-time caregiver. Medical care–especially for brain injuries–doesn’t come cheap, and has certainly added to the stack of bills.

Saturn joined many other former WWE employees in a lawsuit earlier this year that sought reparations for, the plaintiffs claimed, WWE’s role in CTE injuries. WWE is filing for the dismissal of that suit.

Perry says he’s suffering from these five symptoms:

1) Almost constant headaches
2) Sensitivity to light
3) Brain fog – losing time, basically
4) Inability to drive or work
5) Dementia

Regardless of the legal status of the suit, there’s no doubt the stress–both mental and physical–of pro wrestling has had an awful impact on many of its performers. We hope Saturn is able to get the help he needs.
