Did WWE just ruin the endings of several key matches to “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn?”
As previously reported, Owens is currently scheduled to take on NXT Champion Finn Balor in a Ladder Match, while Banks faces off against Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship at the “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” event on Aug. 22.
Since “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” will be taking place prior to these tapings, scheduled to air on either Aug. 26 or Sep. 2, rumors are swirling that WWE may have willingly spoiled the outcomes for these matches.
It should be noted that Owens was not announced to the ring as the NXT Champion, nor did he refer to himself as such for this match. In addition, the previously mentioned Banks vs. Daddio match wasn’t designed to air on the network.
This leaves fans to decide for themselves as to whether these were true spoilers, or if WWE was just swerving their fans by these actions.
Editor’s Note:
I find it pretty hard to believe that WWE would ruin these matches for the viewers. Triple H isn’t stupid; it’s not like he accidentally forgot that “Takeover” was coming up, and had Owens and Banks come down with the titles by mistake. I am confident this is just a swerve for the fans, creating buzz leading up to “Takeover.” I think the event is going to be top notch, and it would truly be idiotic for WWE to turn fan eyes away by ruining the outcome.
