WWE.com has posted an article that showcases what the custom design plates for the current WWE Title could have looked like for past champions. Looking at the WWE Title, and it’s ability to be customized for the person that carries it, the WWE.com writers picked out 10 champions from the past and 10 designs that they feel would have complimented each talent’s character.
For former champion Eddie Guerrero, who never held a customized championship during his tenure, a flame was chosen to depict his “Latino Heat” moniker. Edge’s “Rated R Superstar” logo, which laid in the center of his customized spinner belt, was chosen as his side-plate design. Mick Foley was another former champion chosen for this “what if” game, and his famous “Mankind-masked smiley face” logo was selected for his title. While the “Skull and winged heart” logo probably would have been more of the Hitman’s style, the WWE chose a pair of Bret Hart’s memorable shades to be showcased on his championship.
Shawn Michaels’ “dagger through the heart” tattoo, minus the snake, was the inspiration for his custom plates, and as for his buddy “Diesel” Kevin Nash, a mack truck. Surprisingly enough, the Ultimate Warrior made the list, as his signature face paint serves as his customized title add-ons. For Macho Man Randy Savage, it is the stars that donned his trunks that the WWE selected for his “title.” Although he wore one of the most recognizable customized belts of all time, the “Smoking Skull Belt,” Stone Cold Steve Austin was also selected by WWE.com for this article, with his skull logo being used on his plates.
Recent WWE Hall of Fame inductee and longest reigning WWE Champion in history, Bruno Sammartino, finishes out the “what if” designs, with none other than the Italian flag flying on the sides of his “would-be” WWE Title.
