Former WWE Champion and part-time superstar The Undertaker recently sat down with Ken Hoffman of the Houston Chronicle. The purpose of this interview was to promote his current off-camera involvement with SPUR Compassion Ministries and America’s Mighty Warriors, but since it was an interview with The Phenom, Hoffman talked a little wrestling with the future Hall of Famer as well.
On why ‘Taker still wrestles consistently at WrestleMania each year, even if he’s injured: “Honestly, I love it, that’s why. I’ve got 26 years in the business and all these injuries, but WrestleMania has become so huge, it’s just hard to walk away from it. I want the audience leaving the stadium going ‘Wow!’ It’s a responsibility I have being a top dog in this business. The crowd will let me know when it’s time to leave. They haven’t yet.”
On how he’d feel if he doesn’t compete on “the Grandest Stage of them All”: “If I didn’t perform at WrestleMania, in some strange weird way, I’d feel like I was letting Vince McMahon down.”
The Undertaker also talks about how he spends his time away from the WWE, where he says he works on his “horrible golf game,” spends time with his family, and tries to heal from his injuries. ‘Taker went a few steps further this year, wrestling a few matches more than just at WrestleMania. As we reported earlier, he is now being rumored to be on this year’s Summerslam card, possibly to wrestle with his…”brother” Kane as the Brothers of Destruction to face off against the current WWE Tag Team Champions Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
As for ‘Takers involvement with SPUR Compassion Ministries and America’s Mighty Warriors, there is still time to enter the contest to win the Undertaker’s custom “Jesse James” West Coast Chopper, “The Ghost.” Watch this video to find out how to enter:
