Sasha Banks is the new NXT Women’s Champion. The NXT superstar claimed her first title reign during the NXT special, “NXT Take Over: Rival” on Feb. 11.
Banks was part of a highly acclaimed Fatal 4 Way Match during the show, where she challenged Bayley, Becky Lynch, and former NXT Women’s Champion, Charlotte. The match was a work of art, and is being labeled as one of the best matches in women’s wrestling history, as it was a first for NXT to have the Women’s Championship on the line in a Fatal 4 Way Match.
All four women showed up and showed out during the match, hitting some grueling high-flying spots, as well as laying some stiff shots and suplexes. After receiving a “Bayley-toBelly” suplex from Bayley off the top rope, Charlotte was placed in a submission hold by Banks, a grounded cross-face, which then led to her dropping the hold and rolling Charlotte over onto her shoulders for the one-two-three.
Banks is only the third woman ever to hold the title behind Paige, and Charlotte.
Editor’s Note:
That Women’s Championship match was something else. It actually begs the question: WHY DON’T WE SEE THESE TYPES OF MATCHES ON THE MAIN ROSTER BETWEEN THE WOMEN?!
