Former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam is expected to finish his current run in WWE on Aug. 26 following the WWE “Main Event” and “Smackdown” tapings. It was previously reported that Van Dam would be done following “SummerSlam,” but he was asked to stay and work a couple of extra weeks.

Van Dam returned to a part-time role with WWE in 2013, making his first appearance for the company since 2009 at the 2013 “Money In The Bank” PPV. He then worked for a few months, then went back home, per his contract. This current run, which began on April 7, just one night removed from WrestleMania XXX, will end on Aug. 26.

Many believe that Van Dam will return to work for the company again in early 2015, possibly returning as an entrant in the 2015 Royal Rumble match. He’ll likely then work from “Royal Rumble,” to “Extreme Rules” before taking another leave.

Editor’s Note:
While I love RVD, his first run back was more memorable than this current run. He rarely shined…which is odd for Van Dam. I hate to see him leave, because I felt like he just got back in a groove over the last few weeks.
