The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting on the recent WWE Creative changes and promotions that have taken place over the last few weeks. As we previously reported, WWE Head Writer David Kreizman will now be staying in that position until mid-August, because his original creative plans were those that have been building to SummerSlam and they wanted him to stay until these plans were completed. The WWE also wants Kreizman to assist in training whoever they hire as his replacement. This way, Kreizman’s creative vision come to fruition, someone else doesn’t throw any monkey wrenches into the current story progressions, and the new Head Writer can ease into his role instead of being thrust into a stressful season with the company.
It is being reported that Stephanie McMahon’s current role with Creative has been minimized and she is only involved with the day-to-day when needed. Brian James (The Road Dogg) has been placed on the Creative team so that they have someone who has a professional wrestling background in with all of the soap opera and TV writers. James was brought in because Michael Hayes is only on conference calls via the telephone at major meetings, and they want a wrestling person at the meetings as well.
David Kapoor (Ranjin Singh) was in charge of Monday/Tuesday TV re-writes, but his role has now changed. Kapoor simply delegates the workload to the rest of the writing staff after Vince McMahon himself makes all the changes. He also interacts with backstage production teams, the WWE App team, and the WWE.com staff to make sure they all know of the changes.
We had also been reporting that the WWE was looking for new lead writers for Monday Night Raw and Smackdown, but these positions have now been filled. Ed Koskey is now the lead writer for RAW, and Ryan Ward, who was praised for his work in NXT, has been promoted to the lead writer of SmackDown.
