WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler says Vince McMahon kept him off of “Old School RAW” on Jan. 6. Lawler, who was checked into a hospital on Monday morning for tests, apparently only had a stomach virus. However, McMahon still wanted to keep him off of WWE TV as a safety precaution.
Lawler recently spoke with radio’s WREG in Memphis, Tenn. about the scare he went through on Jan. 6 and why he was kept from appearing on television during the “Monday Night Raw” broadcast. Lawler states that due to his previous run-in with heart attacks and health problems, that he immediately went to the hospital to get checked out when he was experiencing vomiting and chest pains Monday morning.
“The King” then says that even though his diagnosis was merely a stomach virus, McMahon wanted him to stay away from the commentary table and not get anyone else sick. Lawler had a heart attack during an episode of “Monday Night Raw” in the Fall of 2012, where the Hall of Famer nearly lost his life due to a cardiac arrest.
Although Lawler continues to wrestle independent shows during his off-days with WWE, he has been very cautious about checking up with doctors regularly in order to remain mindful of his health.
