Hulk Hogan reveals big news regarding the WWE Network Friday on “Smackdown.” During the tapings for “Smackdown” in London, England at the O2 Arena, Hogan opens the show to announce that the WWE Network will launch in the UK very soon.

Hogan was not alone for the announcement, as WWE Hall of Famer, long-time Hogan manager, and star of the WWE Network hit show “Legends House”  Jimmy Hart was also on hand and in the ring with the Immortal one. Hogan, who was confirmed to be appearing on the program in April, was featured by the company to garner interest in international fans coming back to the O2 Arena for the second night in a row for WWE programming.

The May 19 edition of “Monday Night Raw” was also held in the O2 Areana, and WWE executives believed that Hogan appearing on “Smackdown” would encourage many of the same fans that had attending “RAW” the night before to attend both on May 19 and May 20. The company is also promoting Hogan in Japan for shows in July for the same reason. They believe that Hogan is such a well known entity that his name on the card will draw more ticket sales, even if the fans know that he will not be competing in the ring.

According to fan reports from the O2 Arena on Twitter, no specific date was announced for the UK launch of the WWE Network, but Hogan did build it up like the Network will be available across the pond very soon. This announcement likely came on May 20 in light of the WWE Business Outlook Address that the company held on May 19, which was deemed a flop by many investors. During the conference call, WWE executives made sure to state that they believe the success of the WWE Network will only come once they launch the over-the-top network internationally.

Editor’s Note:
Smart move by WWE to announce that the Network would be hitting the UK soon. Dumb move to announce that it’s coming but not providing the fans in attendance (or investors) with any sort time table as to when that launch will actually be.
