In the latest edition of former WWE Champion Chris Jericho’s podcast, “Talk is Jericho,” Eric Bischoff reveals a regret he has about the “Monday Night War” between WWE and WCW. Bischoff appears on the program alongside of former WWE talent/official Bruce Prichard to promote their upcoming “Monday Night War” debate, which will be held in Philadelphia on Jan. 25 just hours before the 28th annual WWE “Royal Rumble” PPV.

Bischoff, when discussing if he had any regrets about running the company during the era of the “Monday Night War,” claims that he does have one, and it involves superstars from WWE. The former WCW executive goes on to reveal that his regret comes from when WWE tried to “invade” WCW during an episode of “Monday Night Raw.”

He says,

“It’s the one thing I really regret. If I could change one moment, it would be that one where we found out that WWE was at the door because I would have let them in. Not that I would have wanted Haku or Dave Taylor or those guys to do it [open the door], but it would have been the greatest moment in wrestling.”

Bischoff is referencing when D-Generation X, then led by Triple H, took a tank down to the bay door of the arena where WCW was holding a live “Monday Nitro” event. During the stunt, as it was filmed, WCW officials close the bay door on DX just as they approach it. According to multiple stories from the superstars themselves, WCW talent such as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were on the other side of the door.

In referencing not wanting Haku or Dave Taylor to open the door, Bischoff is shooting on the aggressive nature of both men. He obviously believes that if they had been on the other side of the door, a legit fight would have broken out, and there’s no telling what would have come from it.

Editor’s Note:
I’d love to go to that debate on the 25th.
