New reports are claiming, with more assurance since his initial departure, that former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler is expected to face Rusev at WWE “SummerSlam” on Aug. 23. As previously reported, the annual August Pay-Per-View event will take place in Brooklyn, New York’s Barclays Center.
Ziggler left TV in order to go film a motion picture for WWE Studios, entitled, “6:42.” His character will be that of police officer Ray Fitzpatrick, who has deal with his past, while also stopping a bomb from going off. Filming is taking place currently in Vancouver, Canada.
Ziggler is currently scheduled to return to WWE television during the “SummerSlam” “go-home” editions of “Monday Night Raw” and “Smackdown.” He is expected to return in order to confirm a “SummerSlam” bout with the man that “took him out” weeks ago, Rusev.
Rusev and Ziggler have been at odds since The Bulgarian Brute kicked Lana to the curb, and she began locking lips with Ziggler on TV. While Lana and Rusev are an actual couple in real life, owning a home together in Nashville, Tennessee, on-screen their love life no longer exists. Ziggler’s character now has Lana on his arm, as Rusev is now accompanied to the ring by “Hot Summer” Summer Rae.
“SummerSlam” takes place from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Aug. 23 and will broadcast live on the WWE Network.
Editor’s Note:
This should be a good match. These guys have some good history built up to continue telling a good story. Hopefully they’ll work with that in mind.
