Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan appeared in a dark segment prior to the July 1 “Smackdown” tapings in Newark, NJ. His appearance was to film an anti-tobacco advertisement, and he made his appearance in full ring gear.
Many in the arena were shocked to hear Bryan’s entrance theme and video start up during the tapings. It wasn’t long before pictures of Bryan in his ring gear made their way to Twitter. @JerseyViper told WrestlingRumors.net that Bryan cut a promo about “Dave,” which will be used for an advertisement featured for an anti-tobacco initiative.
Bryan then addressed the New Jersey crowd, letting them know that he loves them and will return to the ring as fast as humanly possible. The former champion may not be competing in a WWE ring again until 2015, as a second surgery performed on his neck could keep him out until then if he were to go through with it.
As he disclosed during “Money In The Bank,” a second surgery is being discussed for Bryan, and it could keep him out of action for a while. However, if his arm begins to regain strength on its own without another surgery, he could be back a lot sooner than expected.

Editor’s Note:
I hope Bryan stays out and gets 100% healthy before he gets back. I don’t want him having to retire prematurely. Cool spot for the NJ crowd to be in though to get to see him during the “Smackdown” tapings.
