According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is interested in singing “Broken” Matt Hardy once his contract expires with TNA in the spring. Intermediaries have told Hardy that HHH wants to bring him into the company.
While this might seem like a great idea, the newsletter also reports that it might not be in Hardy’s best interest to sign, considering he has almost complete creative control over his character in TNA. In addition, he is able to accept independent bookings, along with being able to create his own schedule, which might not be acceptable in WWE.
However, if things continue to spiral downward for TNA financially, then Hardy may consider the WWE offer more seriously. Billy Corgan has recently been named TNA president, as well as put in a bid to become the primary owner of the company, and there is no word on what this means for Hardy going forward.
Editor’s Note:
“Broken” Matt Hardy is my favorite character in wrestling right now, and is undoubtedly the sole reason why TNA has been receiving so much praise in recent weeks. As much as I would love to see him in WWE, my only concern is that his character would be watered down, and would not be allowed to do the same types of things that makes what he does in TNA so successful. Also, what about Brother Nero, Reby Sky, and Señor Benjamin? It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next several months.
