Wrestling Rumors Official Smackdown Live Preview – Tuesday, July 4, 2017

Happy 4th of July to all! Tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live emanates from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. Here’s what we can expect for tonight’s show:

The New Day and The Usos square off in a Rap Battle tonight on SmackDown LIVE

It was previously reported that hip-hop star, Wale, will be making his presence known tonight, when he moderates a rap battle between The Usos and The New Day. Honestly, this will be quite entertaining, and should be nothing more than a fun segment for everyone involved.

Independence Day Battle Royal on SmackDown LIVE to determine United States Champion Kevin Owens’ WWE Battleground opponent

Last week on “Smackdown Live,” Daniel Bryan decreed that an “Independence Day Battle Royal” will take place tonight, in order to determine who will face Kevin Owens for the United States Championship at “Battleground.” The obvious choice here is AJ Styles, and that’s who I’m going with. It should be a very fun event, and I’m looking forward to it!

Naomi to defend SmackDown Women’s Title against Lana tonight

If at first you don’t succeed, try try again. Also, perhaps the third time is the charm? Either way, Lana is once again getting an opportunity to win gold, as she challenges Naomi for the “Smackdown Live” Women’s Championship. There’s no way that an American would lose the title on an Independence Day show, right? Don’t be shocked if Lana takes it here, but I’m going with Naomi to retain.

John Cena returns to SmackDown LIVE tonight

He’s back! “The face that runs the place” is back, as John Cena makes his return to the company tonight! My guess is that he will take a page from Roman Reigns’ playbook, and announce his plans for “Battleground” later this month. Either way, it should be a great promo, and I’m thrilled to see Cena back in the ring!
