The Royal Rumble pay-per-view is always one of the most important events of the year, as not only does it create a great deal of excitement for wrestling fans, but it also kicks off the Road to Wrestlemania.
It also features the annual 30-person Royal Rumble matches, with the winner of those being able to headline WrestleMania against the champion of their choosing.
But who were the winners of the biggest matches on the card?
Becky Lynch was the winner of the Women’s match, while Seth Rollins was the victor of the Men’s match.
Although The Man lost her Smackdown Live Women’s Championship Match against Asuka earlier in the night, she seized an opportunity to make history. After Lana was injured earlier in the match, during the match between Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Championship, she was unable to compete in the 30-Women Royal Rumble match.
Lynch would make her way down to the ring, be allowed to replace Lana, and would go on to eliminate Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair to win the match.
You can see a clip of that below:
On the Men’s side, Seth Rollins would outlast 29 other superstars to earn the opportunity to face the champion of his choosing at WrestleMania.
Editor’s Opinion:
Although there are no surprises on the winners, the controversy surrounding them will lead for an interesting road to WrestleMania. I can’t wait for Raw and Smackdown Live to see how we will get to the title matches on the biggest stage of them all!
