Earlier this year, it was announced that former WWE superstar Shelton Benjamin would be making his return to “Smackdown Live.”

However, fate determined that the return would be delayed, as “The Gold Standard” suffered a torn rotator cuff while preparing for his return.

Benjamin provided an update to the WWE Universe yesterday, stating that he will be back in 4-6 months:

It had been rumored that he would be forming a varsity-club, amateur wrestling-style faction upon his return, but plans could ultimately change.

Benjamin competed with WWE from 2003-2010, and built quite a name for himself during his time with the company. He is a former 2-time WWE Tag Team Champion, a 1-time United States Champion, and a 3-time Intercontinental Champion. He has also held titles and championships all around the world.

Editor’s Note:

The roster could benefit greatly from an experienced veteran like Shelton Benjamin. I always thought that he was an incredibly versatile performer, and was not only athletic and agile in the ring, but could also cut great promos, and created some interesting and entertaining storylines. It will be great to see him in a WWE ring again, whenever that may be!
