It was announced earlier today, via both Twitter and Facebook, that the Triple Threat match for the WWE World Championship between Dean Ambrose, John Cena and champion AJ Styles will open tonight’s “No Mercy” broadcast on the WWE Network:

Things have become incredibly heated between all three competitors in recent weeks. With Cena looking to capture his 16th world championship, which would tie Ric Flair’s record for most world titles of all time, tensions have escalated greatly between all three of the competitors. They have delivered some incredible, passionate and personal promos over the last few weeks.
You can find our official preview for the match here.
Editor’s Note:
I have three guesses as to why this match is opening the show tonight:
- “No Mercy” is happening on the same night as the presidential debate, so WWE wants to try to rope in viewers early on. The hope, then, is that they will continue to watch the show, and DVR and watch the presidential debates later. That’s what I’ll be doing at least.
- The conclusion of this match will not be the last time that we see the competitors throughout the night. This is the least likely scenario, but you never know.
- They are going to have The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler close the show, and have Ziggler lose, forcing his retirement. He will then receive the proper send off that he rightfully deserves.
