WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstars Hornswoggle, Alex Riley and Zeb Colter as of today, Friday, May 6, 2016. WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors.
Hornswoggle was last a part of a WWE storyline when he was the mascot for 3MB in 2014. He would go on to have several matches with El Torito, including a “Wee-L-C” match at the “Extreme Rules” pay-per-view that year. A former cruiserweight champion, Hornswoggle is probably most known for being the illegitimate son of Mr. McMahon, when that storyline was running in 2008.
Alex Riley has spent the last few years of his career competing in NXT. Prior to this, he was a color commentator on both WWE Superstars, as well as in NXT. He is most known for being the apprentice of The Miz in the second season of NXT, back in 2010.
Zeb Colter was last seen on WWE programming on the December 7, 2015 episode of “Monday Night Raw,” when the association between him and Alberto Del Rio came to a close. This was part a of a storyline in which Colter was trying to create “MexAmerica,” which was supposed to bring the United States and Mexico together. He is probably best known for being the mouthpiece of Jack Swagger beginning in 2013, making controversial comments about political issues that were going on in the United States and around the world.
Editor’s Note:
This is unfortunate news for all involved. I feel that Alex Riley had the potential to be a great superstar in WWE, but was misused by all parties involved. Zeb Colter was one of the most entertaining personalities that I had seen in WWE in a long time, and it’s unfortunate that he was not used more often following his program with Jack Swagger. Either way, I’m sure that all of these superstars will be successful in whatever they end up doing next with their careers.
