1. AJ Styles
Was this even a question?
It is no secret that AJ Styles has had incredible success everywhere that he has wrestled around the world. From TNA, to New Japan Pro Wrestling, “The Phenomenal One” has always risen to the top in a quick amount of time, and made a name for himself in doing so. But he never was able to have success in WWE.
Until the 2016 “Royal Rumble.”
When Styles entered the match in the No. 3 position, the roof became unglued, and the WWE Universe knew that they were witnessing history.

From that night on, it became the year of Styles.
He would go on to have incredible feuds with Chris Jericho and John Cena, leading to an amazing match at “SummerSlam,” where he defeated the leader of the “CeNation.”
After being drafted to “Smackdown Live,” he would go on to defeat then World Champion Dean Ambrose to capture his first title in WWE; a title that he still holds today.
Styles was also influential in the singing of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows to WWE; group that is known as “The Club.” This is obviously a reference to the famed “Bullet Club” of the independent circuit, but it represents so much more than that.
It is a sign that the company has undergone a new era of business and of the talent that they are signing. They are beginning to recognize that there is some amazing wrestlers in the world that was not trained under the WWE banner, and that they should bring them in to give the world some incredible matches that they never thought they would see.
The direction that WWE is heading is simply “phenomenal.” And in 2016 it began, and ended with one name: AJ Styles.
