In what appears to have been a reveal for the main event for the upcoming “Clash of the Champions” pay-per-view, local advertisements have been promoting a match between Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship:

Last week on “Monday Night Raw,” Owens defeated Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass in a fatal 4-way match to become the new WWE Universal Champion. After Big Cass was eliminated, the finish came when Triple H made his unexpected return to the company, and took out both Reigns and Rollins. This allowed Owens to pick up the easy victory, pinning Rollins to become the champion.
This match came as a result of an injury sustained by Finn Bálor at “SummerSlam.” Although “The Demon King” did defeat Rollins to become the first Universal Champion in WWE history, he suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him out of action for the next six months. Therefore, he relinquished the title the following night on “Raw,” which led to the fatal 4-way match.
It should be noted that “Clash of the Champions” is a pay-per-view that is exclusive to the “Monday Night Raw” brand.
Editor’s Note:
This should come as no surprise to anybody. I have to imagine that tonight on “Raw,” Stephanie McMahon will give her protege the opportunity to go after the title that was taken from him by her husband. This should be an outstanding contest, as both Owens and Rollins are two of the best wrestlers that the company has.
