As of this afternoon, it would seem that the first team has fallen.
Earlier today on Facebook, Kalisto and Sin Cara announced that they will be entering the draft as singles competitors, ending the tag team known as the Lucha Dragons. Although they will be parting ways, Kalisto said that they will remain brothers, and remain “Lucha.”
Kalisto has had success as a singles star in 2016. On January 11, he defeated Alberto Del Rio on “Raw” to win his first United States Championship. After losing the title three days later to Del Rio on “Smackdown,” Kalisto would defeat his adversary at the “Royal Rumble,” to begin his second reign as US Champion. This would last until “Extreme Rules” in May, where he lost the title to the current champion, Rusev.
Editor’s Note:
I think that this is a good move by WWE. Kalisto has proven that he has what it takes as a singles competitor, and the tag team division is so strong right now, that WWE can afford to let these two split up and be individual competitors.
