Rumor: AJ Styles Could Be Receiving Big Push on SmackDown After Defeating John Cena at “Summerslam”

On Tuesday night, the WWE Draft isn’t the only important thing happening on the first edition of SmackDown live. The rematch between John Cena & AJ Styles will also take place on the show.

It’s not only a big match because Cena vs. Styles will be on network television, but the match is going to have major implications on the future of AJ Styles in WWE.

Recently, it was reported that Vince McMahon was no longer as high on Roman Reigns as he had been in the past. It was also revealed that Vince was very high on Styles and wished he had signed him a decade ago.

According to a rumor from CageSideSeats.com, AJ Styles is expected to receive a big push after the brand extension and the feud with John Cena is all part of that.

If John Cena wins on SmackDown later this week, it is very likely that Styles will defeat John Cena clean at Summerslam and eventually establish himself as SmackDown’s World Champion.

There have been some rumors about AJ Styles facing Randy Orton after Summerslam, but the assumption was that would be after losing the feud to John Cena. It may be the other way around and Orton stands to do something that John Cena couldn’t do.
