Earlier tonight on “Monday Night Raw,” Kevin Owens became the new Intercontinental Champion, winning a Fatal 5-Way match against Dean Ambrose, Tyler Breeze, Stardust and Dolph Ziggler.

However, Owens will not get to enjoy his title reign for very long. It was officially announced on “Raw” that his first title defense will come against Ziggler this Sunday at “Fast Lane.”

“KO” and “The Show-off” have developed quite the rivalry in recent weeks. They have had several excellent matches, and gave garnered the interest of many fans due to their outstanding performances.

Owens’ last run as Intercontinental Champion came when he defeated Ryback at “Night of Champions” on September 20, 2015. He would go on to drop the title to Dean Ambrose at “TLC” a couple of months later, on December 13.

Ziggler is a former 4-time Intercontinental Champion. His last title reign began at “TLC” on December 14, 2014, where he defeated Luke Harper in a ladder match. He would go on to lose the championship to Bad News Barrett on the January 5, 2015 edition of “Raw.”

Editor’s Note:

I am totally OK with this. Owens and Ziggler have had some tremendous matches recently, and now that they have more time to put their best efforts forward on a pay-per-view, they could put on an absolute classic. This match might steal the show, pun intended.
