WWE is scheduled to release a new DVD and Blu-Ray this week entitled “The Monday Night War, Vol. 2: Know Your Role.”
It covers the final 10 episodes of the “Monday Night War” documentary that was produced in 2014 for the WWE Network, and features topics ranging from the rise of Chris Jericho, to the end of WCW.
“Russo suggested that he had already written the show and Hogan showed up and wanted to change things at the last minute – B.S. Hulk and I had a strategy and a plan and story; I had communicated that with Russo. And when I got there, Russo already had a plan on what he was going to do. I basically called a 4-way meeting with Brad Siegel, the president of the network, who had the deciding vote. I brought Russo into my office, I brought Hulk into my office, because Hulk did have creative control. Russo laid out his lame storyline…I laid out mine…and Brad Siegel basically voted for my storyline. And then Russo went out and proceeded to do what he wanted to do anyway.”
Bischoff also says that some of the things that Russo did from a creative standpoint made Bischoff look like Steven Spielberg.
Editor’s Note:
Honestly, I have no idea who to believe anymore. I have read so much about not only the “Bash at the Beach” incident, as well as how the demise of WCW went down, and there seems to be at least five different sides to the story. However, as big WCW fan, these are always interesting interviews, and I hope that the definitive truth comes out once and for all one day.
