John Cena has been notoriously absent since his appearance at Wrestlemania, where he and his now fiancee Nikki Bella took a victory over The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag-team matchup. While we aren’t sure what kept him out of the ring so long, we do know that he is on the way back, just in time for Summerslam.
It is being reported that Cena has been signed to the roster for the upcoming WWE Battleground Pay-per-view on July 23rd. The capacity as to which Cena will appear remains fuzzy at this point, but what we do know is that he will be there.
Reports also state that he will be facing off against Bray Wyatt on the July 15th Raw live event, in a storyline move that will have Cena bouncing around between brands as a free agent until Summerslam at the latest.
He is also scheduled to appear on TV again on the July 4th episode of Smackdown Live, but again, it’s unclear as to what he will be doing on that particular episode. Regardless, it looks like the WWE is refusing to go through Summerslam without using their biggest name at all, and are prepping audiences to do something big with him at the event.
