With WWE “SummerSlam” just three weeks away on Aug. 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the time is now to test the waters on some potential matches fans we’ll be seeing on the card to see if they can work on pay-per-view.
We reported on July 21 here at WrestlingRumors.net that Roman Reigns is expected to go one-on-one with Randy Orton at the big event.
All signs are pointing towards that bout being announced in the coming weeks based on the way things played out on the July 21 edition of “Monday Night Raw”.
Orton and Reigns faced each other at a series of WWE Live Events over the weekend in Oklahoma. Unfortunately, numerous reports have circulated from fans over their matches being very mediocre.
This is expected to be one of the headlining matches on the card, along with John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose (unannounced) and Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella (unannounced).
Editor’s Note
I’ve never really bought into the chemistry Reigns and Orton have after seeing them compete in televised tag team and handicap matches. Reigns needs the right guy to compete against to have a really good match. I’m not sure Orton is the man for the job but I’m obviously open to being proven wrong at “SummerSlam.”
