At an upcoming Northeast Wrestling event on Aug. 2, WWE commentator and Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler will go one-on-one with Kevin Steen in a “Piledriver vs. Piledriver” match.

To hype up the match, Lawler cut an online promo for the event, confirming Steen heading to World Wrestling Entertainment in the process.

Steen recently finished up his last few dates with Ring of Honor, wrestling his last match for the company on July 19 against Steve Corino.

He’s expected to begin training in NXT developmental sometime in August.

We here at WrestlingRumors.net confirmed on June 23 that Steen had in fact reached a deal with WWE.

Editor’s Note

I’m very much looking forward to seeing Steen compete in a WWE environment. I still have my worries over how he’ll be used, though. Hopefully my skepticisms are unwarranted and Steen ends up thriving in his new home.
