WWE superstar John Cena is currently scheduled to challenge Seth Rollins for the United States Championship at the upcoming “Night of Champions” pay-per-view on Sept. 20 in Houston.
According to a fan report sent to WrestlingInc.com, Cena was potentially injured during a Live Event Friday night in a match against Kevin Owens in Hampton, Virginia.
It was noted that Cena had trouble with either his nose or neck, with the official calling the bout holding up the dreaded “X” symbol.
Considering Cena’s recently broke his nose, courtesy of a knee to the face from Rollins during “Monday Night Raw,” it’s safe to assume that it was another issue with that.
Cena continued to fight, eventually emerging victorious over his opponent, with officials and trainers coming down to check on him for roughly five minutes afterwards.
He reportedly went straight to the back, stopping at the top of the entrance ramp to salute fans before exiting.
Update: A video of Cena’s injury, which came on an attempted sunset-flip, has now been released via Twitter.

Editor’s Note
There’s no way of knowing at this time the extent of the injury. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. I doubt WWE wants to change their plans for the pay-per-view if he needs to miss an extended period of time, although it’s a good sign that he was able to finish the match.
