According to a report by PWInsider.com, World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Mason Ryan, Raquel Diaz, Oliver Grey and Danny Burch from the NXT roster.
Ryan was a member of The New Nexus with CM Punk from 2011-2012. He had been used in squash matches in NXT over the last year.
Diaz was a former FCW Women’s Champion and one of the original members of The Ascension. She took leave for over a year due to a medical issue, but was set to return in a managerial role alongside Baron Corbin. Diaz, whose real name is Shaul Guerrero, is the daughter of Vickie and the late Eddie Guerrero.
Grey was a former member of the British Ambition tag team with current NXT Champion Adrian Neville. The pair won a tournament in early 2013 to become the first-ever NXT Tag Team Champions. He had just returned from a severe knee injury which kept him on the sidelines for over eight months.
Burch was used an enhancement talent on NXT television.
Editor’s Note
It was just a matter of time before WWE management started making cuts. They usually take place a month or two after WrestleMania, so this shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. With all due respect to the stars in question, there aren’t any significant losses here. Ryan had his 15 minutes with The New Nexus, but his inability to create a connection with the audience did him in. Injuries to Diaz and Grey derailed their progress and Burch never had much of a chance to crack the main roster anyways.
