Throughout 2014, continued reports have claimed that WWE’s future golden boy, Roman Reigns, would be the one to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. However, as 2014 is approaching its end, it appears WWE may be hesitant to put all its eggs in Reigns’ basket. There are rumors that Reigns may not be the one to win the 2015 Royal Rumble, and go on to face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 31, presumably Lesnar.

Reigns’ favorite status for the 2015 Royal Rumble match took a bit of a hit following the latest edition of “Monday Night Raw” on Dec. 29. In the penultimate segment of the night, Daniel Bryan announced he will return from a near eight month absence in the Royal Rumble match. Upon Bryan’s announcement, some members of the WWE Universe see Bryan as a co-favorite to win the match.

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, who literally put a brick through his television because Daniel Bryan did not win the 2014 Royal Rumble, took to his Facebook page to comment on Bryan’s announcement. While Foley will not be smashing anything following the end of the 2015 Royal Rumble, the “Hardcore Legend” did reveal that he thinks WWE should book Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania 31:

LESNAR/BRYAN AT MANIA? I SAY “YES”!

“I’m not going to smash any TV sets this January. I’m hoping not to say, write, or tweet things that make my relationship with WWE difficult. But following Daniel Bryan’s emotional speech on WWE Monday Night Raw last night, I think he could be the guy to face Brock Lesnar at this year’s ?Wrestlemania?.”

“As opposed to the earlier Ryback promo, where Ryback seemed uncomfortable, and in too much of a rush for us to appreciate the substance of the words, Daniel Bryan allowed his emotions to tell the story – reminding us of the journey he’d been on this past year, while not letting us forget what it was about him that made so many of us root for him to begin with. He fights from underneath like few before him ever have, and (despite what some of my colleagues may think) would be a credible threat to knock down the mountain that Lesnar has been built to be. It would be the ultimate David, facing the ultimate Goliath. Man vs Beast. Man vs himself – really no need for Man vs company here. Give Paul Heyman free creative reign to bring out the best in Daniel Bryan – and for the WWE Universe to bring out the best in themselves – and we have got ourselves a compelling Mania main event.”

“See you on the road this month in TEXAS, with JAN 10-15 shows in ??McAllen,? ?San Antonio,? ?Houston?, ??Addison,? ?Austin?, and MICHIGAN shows (with Colt Cabana) in ??GrandRapids? & ?RoyalOak? (near Detroit) http://realmickfoley.com

Editor’s Note

I definitely think Daniel Bryan should be in the picture for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship come WrestleMania 31. He is once again the most-over babyface on the roster. Whether Lesnar is the champion going into ‘Mania remains to be seen, but I would be a huge fan of a Bryan vs. Lesnar match for the belt.
