Teddy Hart, whose 25-year pro wrestling career involve stints in WWE, Ring of Honor, TNA, MLW, and the short-lived Wrestling Society X, was recently arrested in Richmond, Virginia, on charges of possession of a schedule III narcotic with intent to sell or distribute. According to Virginia law, “any person other than an inmate of a penal institution… or in the custody of an employee thereof, who violates this section with respect to a controlled substance classified in Schedule III shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.”
His intent to sell or distribute falls under a Class 5 felony, which could result in “a term of imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than 10 years, or in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.”
Ring of Honor Women’s star Maria Manic, who is dating Teddy Hart, provided a status of his sentencing on their YouTube page on Valentine’s Day.
“He got locked up. I’m thinking he’s gonna get a bail today, but then he said they just never took him to court today. They never pulled him out of his cell and went to jail; I’m sorry, took him out of the jail cell and went to court. And then I tried to call his public attorney multiple times, and she just hasn’t answered me. So, I just don’t understand what’s going on, and then I called the jail, and they were saying that he wasn’t supposed to bail, and his next court date is April 23rd.”
Maria stated that she may hire a lawyer to try to get him out of jail before the 23rd of April, but the fees will be $3,000 with the risk of him not even getting out, so she does not know if she could afford the risk right now seeing that she is homeless. She also stated that money is not an issue, but she planning on going back to Florida from Virginia to get settled.
In order to get Teddy out of jail, Maria stated that she is willing to be in a boxing match with anyone, even the top female, just to get extra money. She stated that she does not want to be in a wrestling match, and does not know enough to compete in an MMA match.
