For several years, The Boogeyman has haunted the WWE locker room, leading to his unforgettable legacy.

Coming from a spooky abyss known as The Bottomless Pit, the petrifying Boogeyman first appeared in WWE on an episode of SmackDown in 2005.

Always creeping through the entire locker room, this peculiar Superstar would scare other wrestlers by mysteriously appearing in very unexpected places.

It wasn’t until Survivor Series 2005 that Boogeyman would make his first in-ring appearance, attacking Eric Bischoff  in order to aid SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long defeat the former Raw GM.

The Boogeyman continued to show strange behavior in the weeks and months to come. In December of 2005, during a matchup with Simon Dean, the demented Boogeyman took a handful of live worms from his pocket and ate all of them in the dead-center of the ring.

From that night on, Boogeyman was barely ever seen without a pile of night crawlers moving in his mouth. And even worse, his opponents’ mouths.

On an edition of SmackDown in 2006, Boogeyman legitimately bit a huge mole off Jillian Hall’s face. Without surprise, nearly every Superstar on the roster was terrified of stepping into the ring with this absurd Superstar.

The unfortunate men who had to face him, including JBL and Booker T, were normally dispatched of very quickly. Boogeyman’s most notable victory was over the to-be WWE Hall of Famer King Booker T and Queen Sharmell at WrestleMania 22 in under four minutes.

Boogeyman soon met his match, however, in the form of Finlay; a well-built, intense brawler from Belfast.

Finlay was never afraid of the dark, as he took the scary Boogeyman head-on. Thanks to his long-time experience and some outside help from his “son”, Hornswoggle, Finlay was able to defeat Boogeyman several times. To fight against the leprechaun, Boogeyman sought the help of his own friend, Little Boogeyman, leading to even creepier matches with Finlay.

In 2007, the ghoul made the move to WWE’s ECW brand, where he would clash with similarly fearsome Superstars, such as Big Daddy V and Kane.

Boogeyman ended his WWE career in 2009, yet many wrestlers still leave the locker room lights on, knowing that at any time Boogeyman could be coming back to haunt them.

Fast forward to 2015, The Boogeyman made a surprise entrance in the Royal Rumble Match. The WWE Universe was exploding with anticipation as The Boogeyman stared down Bray Wyatt. Unfortunately for The Eater of Worms, Wyatt through him over the top rope.
