It’s been awhile since we heard anything from Randy Orton. The last we heard, he got married and was recovering from a shoulder surgery and in possible need of neck surgery that could have left him out of the ring for all of 2016.

There was a lot of speculation about The Viper being sidelined for over a year and a half. However, the original report only speculated that Orton “may” need neck surgery. In an update from that report, Orton has personally answered the rumors of needing neck surgery and provided an update on his injury status:

The WWE roster could really use Randy Orton right now. The roster has a lot of young talent, but aside from Chris Jericho, there aren’t a lot of main event veterans on the roster to put over that young talent.

Orton’s shoulder injury was set to put him back to the ring around, or immediately after Wrestlemania 32. Since he’s debunked the neck surgery rumors, it’s likely we’ll see The Apex Predator sooner rather than later.

It’s very unlikely that he’ll be back in time for the “Royal Rumble. However, stranger things have happened. If Orton is coming back to the ring sooner than 2017, the WWE roster could sure use it.
