At the 2015 “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view, Titus O’Neil was the 26th entrant into the 30-man Royal Rumble match. Titus would be quickly eliminated by Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, lasting just four seconds.
However, as previously reported, Titus was supposed to be eliminated in just one second, tying Santino Marella for the quickest Royal Rumble elimination. When the Royal Rumble match was replayed on the Jan. 26 “Snow Day” showing of “Monday Night Raw,” Titus’ entrance and elimination into the match was cut out.
The recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter from Dave Meltzer has picked up on the botched spot from the Royal Rumble. According to Meltzer, Vince McMahon was said to be furious about the timing issue between Titus, Ambrose, and Reigns. The spot was reportedly the only spot in the entire over the top rope battle royal was timed. Because of that, McMahon’s anger regarding the botch was strengthened.
Editor’s Note
It certainly says a lot that WWE decided to cut that out of the re-broadcast of the Royal Rumble match on the Jan. 26 “Raw,” leaving almost everything else, including crowd noise, in. I still don’t know why WWE wanted Titus to break or tie the record.
