On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, host Dave Meltzer discussed the idea of a UFC star reaching out to Paul Heyman for work on his promo skills. According to Meltzer, there has been talk of current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones attempting to contact the one behind the one responsible for the “1” in 21-1 in order to improve his work on the microphone.

At UFC 178, Jon Jones will be in the main event, as he defends his championship against Daniel Cormier. While the event is months away, set to occur on Sept. 27 of this year, tensions are high. At a media event for the bout, on Monday, Aug. 4, the two ended up brawling. It’s not known if the brawl was staged or real, but it made for an interesting scene at the news conference. Prior to the event, the two were also going at it on social media.

Paul Heyman is no stranger to MMA, UFC in particular, as he follows the promotion closely. In fact, he recently appeared on The MMA Hour with host Ariel Helwani to discuss UFC and WWE. During his appearance, he claimed that CM Punk would view himself as a failure, if he were to return to wrestling.

Editor’s Note

It’s neat to see a UFC star look to Paul Heyman for advice on the stick. He’s certainly the best person out there to help improve one’s skills on the microphone.
