Intercontinental Championship Match Confirmed for “SummerSlam”

An Intercontinental Championship Match has been confirmed for “SummerSlam.” The Miz will defend his title against Dolph Ziggler on Aug. 17.

As previously reported, rumors of a unification of the United States Championship and Intercontinental Championship at “SummerSlam” have been running rampant as of late. However, it seems that these plans, if not scrapped completely, have been put on hold until “Night Of Champions.”

On Aug. 4, it was announced that Miz would defend the IC strap against “The Show Off.” It was then built up on the Aug. 4 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” where Miz and Ziggler had an altercation following Ziggler’s defeat of Cesaro.

“SummerSlam” will take place on Aug. 17.
