The day before “The Biggest Party of the Summer,” “SummerSlam,” WWE announced that Rob Van Dam will go one-on-one against Cesaro during the SummerSlam Kickoff, prior to the pay-per-view. The pre-show will air on the WWE Network, in addition to many other platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and many others.
Since Rob Van Dam returned to WWE programming in early April, these two have been familiar foes. The two clashed at “Extreme Rules,” as they and Jack Swagger were involved in a Triple Threat Elimination match. Cesaro would reign victorious that night. Additionally, Van Dam and Cesaro met during Money in the Bank qualifying matches, and the Intercontinental Championship Number One Contender’s Tournament.
For Van Dam, this may be his last match for the time being, as he is reportedly scheduled to take time off following “SummerSlam.”
The SummerSlam Kickoff will go live at 7:30 p.m. EST and feature a highly regarded panel, with host Renee Young. Only two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, headlines the panel. The panel also includes Alex Riley and Booker T.

Editor’s Note
Not too excited for this match. Leaving the WWE Tag Team Champions and United States Champion off the card is definitely strange.
