As we previously reported, John Cena will be missing two editions of “Monday Night Raw,” heading to the “SummerSlam” pay-per-view. One of the showings of “Raw” that the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion will miss is on July 21. The episode serves as the fallout from the “Battleground” pay-per-view. Cena will miss the two episodes due to his role in Judd Apatow’s “Trainwreck” film.
Following the news of Cena’s schedule, some fans speculated that it signifies that Cena will drop his title at “Battleground.” At the event, he will attempt to successfully defend his title against Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Kane in a Fatal Four Way match.
According to PWInsider, there are some people within WWE that believe it is time for the company to “pull the trigger” on Roman Reigns, having him win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “Battleground.” However, the website goes on to note that it is all purely speculation, and hasn’t been rumored or confirmed to happen.
For the past couple of months, WWE has kept Roman Reigns in its long-term plans. His eventual encounter with Triple H was discussed in February. Additionally, Reigns has been discussed to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. Lesnar conquered The Undertaker’s historic WrestleMania undefeated streak at WrestleMania XXX.
Editor’s Note
It would be way too early to put the title on Reigns. Cena is undoubtedly walking away the champion at “Battleground.”
