On Sunday, Aug. 17, WWE’s biggest event of the summer, “SummerSlam” wrapped up with the main event of the night, pitting WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena up against Brock Lesnar.

For Lesnar, it was his first match since conquering The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania XXX. Since becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at “Money in the Bank,” this was John Cena’s second title defense. At “Battleground,” with the odds stacked against him, Cena prevailed in a Fatal Four Way match. The three challengers were Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Kane.

At the end of the night, a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion would be crowned. After a second “F5,” Brock Lesnar would defeat John Cena by the way of pinfall. Lesnar dominated Cena throughout the entire match, hitting Cena with a plethora of German suplexes, 17 in total.

Lesnar is now a four-time world champion in WWE. This is his first run with the main title since late 2003.
