At the “SummerSlam” pay-per-view on Sunday, Aug. 17, the opening match saw a title change hands. Intercontinental Champion The Miz went up against Dolph Ziggler. Surprising many, Ziggler defeated The Miz by the way of pinfall, quickly ending The Miz’s reign as champion.

At the “Battleground” pay-per-view, The Miz claimed the Intercontinental Champion in a battle royal. Miz won thanks in part to spending a lot of the match outside of the ring. He simply left the ring, leaving under the top rope, in order to remain in the match.

Ziggler, who was the last person Miz had to eliminate at “Battleground,” is now a two-time Intercontinental Champion. Ziggler pulled out the victory in The Miz’s first title defense. Because of that, the entire Wrestling Rumors staff chose Miz in the match.
