On May 12, WWE aired its second edition of “Monday Night Raw” following the 2014 “Extreme Rules” event, beginning the transition to its next major event, “Payback.” The show would confirm two matches for the upcoming event, both rematches from “Extreme Rules.” Additionally, the show, which some viewed as lackluster, saw Daniel Bryan reveal that he has to undergo neck surgery. For this episode, TVByTheNumbers.com has now revealed its viewership information.
“Monday Night Raw” averaged 4,006,000 viewers, noticeably down from last week’s 4,276,000 viewers. The first hour of the program, featuring The Shield taking down Evolution to begin the night, brought in the least amount of viewers, 3,810,000. Viewership then significantly increased for the second hour, averaging 4,251,000 viewers. For the third and final hour, viewership once again dipped below 4,000,000, going to 3,957,000.
Again, like last week, “Monday Night Raw” was bested by the NBA Playoffs among Monday night cable programs. At its peak, “Monday Night Raw” received an adults aged 18-49 rating of 1.5, the same rating the May 5 edition garnered. Overall, “Monday Night Raw” finished third in terms of viewership among cable programs for the night, as it was also bested by VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.”
Editor’s Note
Another significant drop-off in viewership for WWE certainty doesn’t bode well for the company, especially if it will lose Daniel Bryan for the next month or two. At the same time, “Monday Night Raw” was not very stellar, so the decreased viewership should be expected.
