John Cena Becomes New WWE World Heavyweight Champion

At the “Money in the Bank” pay-per-view, eight men duked it out to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. These eight men were John Cena, Kane, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus, and Bray Wyatt. The Authority, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, were ringside for the match.

WWE’s power couple watched, hoping that Randy Orton would reclaim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in an effort to solidify himself as the “Face of WWE” once again. Towards the end of the match, it appeared that their dreams would come true. Orton began to climb the ladder as Kane, who helped Seth Rollins win the traditional Money in the Bank Ladder match earlier in the night, held the ladder still.

However, John Cena rushed towards the ring, crushing The Authority’s dreams. Cena delivered an “Attitude Adjustment” to both Orton and Kane. With all of the competitors down and out, Cena climbed the ladder, becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Cena’s victory makes him a 15-time world champion. He is now just one world title reign behind “Nature Boy” Ric Flair who has 16 during his time with WWE, WCW, and NWA.
