On Sunday, June 29, eight men will look to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at “Money in the Bank.” John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, Cesaro, and Kane will compete in a ladder match for Daniel Bryan’s vacated title.

Since the announcement of the match, John Cena was the odds-on favorite. The notion of Cena walking out champion was discussed even further when a poster for the “SummerSlam” pay-per-view leaked. Cena was featured on the poster alongside Brock Lesnar, leading to speculation that Cena would face Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Prior to the poster leaking, WWE asked fans who they would like to see Lesnar challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “SummerSlam.”  Prior plans had Lesnar slated to face Daniel Bryan, but Bryan was not even part of the survey, as his health status remains up in the air.

Despite WWE teasing a John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar match at SummerSlam, it may not have Cena walk out the champ at “Money in the Bank.” A recent report by F4WOnline notes that plans for Cena winning the title may have been changed. Word within the company says due to the leak of the “SummerSlam” poster, WWE may change the finish for the “Money in the Bank” pay-per-view. Though, even if the finish does change, Cena will still walk into “SummerSlam” the WWE World Heavyweight Champion primed to face Brock Lesnar.

Editor’s Note

I definitely think there has been discussion of Cena not becoming champion because of the leaked poster. However, I still think WWE has Cena walk out “Money in the Bank” champion. If he doesn’t, I only see two other people as possibilities to win the match: Kane and Bray Wyatt.
