Colt Cabana and CM Punk created tidal waves throughout the professional wrestling world when the former had the latter on his “Art of Wrestling” podcast. The episode was released late Wednesday night on Nov. 26, and since then, has generated a tremendous about of buzz about Punk’s departure from WWE. Punk explained his reasoning behind leaving, and would even reveal that WWE had fired him on his wedding day.
Through the story, Cabana has not been lost in the shuffle. Early reports regarding the backstage reaction within WWE about the “Art of Wrestling” episode noted that Cabana now found himself on WWE’s “shitlist.” He was reportedly being tried for an announcing job in WWE, but that has obviously fallen through now.
Cabana has now commented on why he took Punk on his podcast, emailing the following to those on his “Art of Wrestling” mailing list:
“Punk has had this incredible story basically kept to himself for a long time now. There’s been so many people bugging and pushing and intruding. I hope this gives HIM closure & I hope it gives YOU closure.”
Additionally, Cabana briefly spoke to Mick Foley, via Twitter, about having Punk on the show:

In response to the reports about WWE souring on him, Cabana cracked a joke about the WWE Network:

Awesome. I truly believe Punk just wanted to get his story out there, even though people were going to run with it in many different ways.
